Nigeria's markets rebuild themselves after every fire — except the power
Traders reorganise within days of a market fire; what does not come back is reliable electricity, and no one offers them an independent way to plan for it.
Why it matters
Nigeria's small traders are among the most organised in the world — associations, rotas, shared machines. What they lack is not organisation but an engineer on their side of the table.
What we intend to do
- Independent power assessments for trade associations, owned by the association.
- Costings that a lender or a cooperative can act on.
The first story against this issue
A trade association that has already counted its daily power hours.
If that is you, or someone you know, write to us. It will be recorded only with their consent, in their own voice, and given back to them — that is the standard.
