Small enterprises lose more to unreliable power than to any other cost
Tailors, welders, cold stores and radio stations run on a few hours of power a day, and the credible options for changing that rarely reach them.
Why it matters
The first thing a trader needs is not a generator or a grant. It is an honest assessment they own — what power the work actually needs, what it would cost to secure, and whether doing nothing is the better answer this year. That assessment is a skill, and it is one young African engineers have.
Where an installer writes the assessment, the answer is always an installation. Where the trader owns it, the answer is the truth.
What we intend to do
- Power & Enterprise: independent assessments owned by the traders, not the installer.
- Honest costings that include the option of doing nothing.
- Publication of every assessment as a resource other associations can adapt.
