Benin's cooperatives need trials that include their own seed

Women's cooperatives across Benin's Collines and Zou grow in soils that certified seed was never tested against — and want evidence, not opinion.

Why it matters

The cooperatives are not against improved seed. They want to know, with a fair comparison on their own land, what actually grows — and they want the varieties their mothers grew included in the trial.

What we intend to do

  • Farmer-led trials designed by an agronomist and facilitated in Fon and French.
  • Results published in the cooperative's name.

The first story against this issue

A cooperative chair who can describe exactly which season the certified seed failed, and why.

If that is you, or someone you know, write to us. It will be recorded only with their consent, in their own voice, and given back to them — that is the standard.
